Our Top 10 Courses of 2015 set the bar extremely high, but 2016 was no slouch. We started and ended the year in Hawaii by visiting Maui in January and Kauai in December. Both islands have spectacular golf and are strongly represented on this list. Despite what some major publications want you to think, ranking golf courses is always subjective (and sometimes political). After much contemplation, here are my top 10 golf courses played in 2016:

Review: Maui Nui Golf Club
Maui Nui Golf Club, as the name suggests, is located on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui. It is conveniently located in the town of Kihei, a popular area for vacation condo rentals. It was five minutes up the road from our condo, which made it dangerously convenient. One of the first selling points of Maui Nui is that it is one of the few courses on Maui that can be played for under $100...
Review: Pukalani Country Club
Pukalani Country Club sits 1,100 feet above sea level along the lower portion of Mount Haleakala on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui. This location makes for interesting terrain and beautiful vistas. Pukalani was the first round of golf on our Maui trip, and quickly debunked the notion that golf in Hawaii is too expensive. The down-to-earth, 6900 yard layout provides plenty of unique, fun, and challenging holes...
Review: Kapalua Golf – Plantation Course
The Plantation Course at Kapalua Golf is located on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui, and has become a true bucket-list destination for many golfers. Designed by golf course design geniuses Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, The Plantation Course makes the most of its location perched along the West Maui Mountains with constant, stunning views of the Pacific Ocean...

Golf on Maui. It's what dreams are made of, and the Ka'anapali Golf Courses help make those dreams come true. Home to 36 holes known as the Royal Ka'anapali Course and the Ka'anapali Kai Course, there is no shortage of fun and challenging golf...

Aloha – Part 2
As our Hawaiian adventure enters the home stretch, Maui continues to impress me. It turns out that starting each day with a beach walk in the morning and finishing it with a beautiful sunset does not get old. A morning adventure near Makena: Beth relaxing and taking in the views of the Pacific: A typical … Continue reading Aloha – Part 2
Aloha – Part 1
As many of our faithful followers know, we departed from the frozen Alberta tundra on January 9th, and about 8 hours later found ourselves on the beautiful 1.2 million year old volcanic island of Maui. This is my first trip to Maui, or any Hawaiian island for that matter. So what's all the fuss about? … Continue reading Aloha – Part 1
